Dr. Barry Daughtry is a board certified family medicine physician who believes that listening to the patient is important. So often, patients will tell us exactly what is wrong with them; only when we have heard what they say can we help them. We can give them the right medication, therapy, or send them to the right specialist. Sometimes, all the patient needs is reassurance. Hearing what they have to say is the key to the doctor-patient relationship. Dr. Daughtry believes it is also important to understand a patient's cultural background. A patient's culture may influence how they understand their disease and how they care for themselves.
