In 1990, Carole St. Laurent-Groves worked in development and case management on the children's unit of a local psychiatric hospital, where she gained experience in working with children ages 4 through 12, after receiving her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology.
Carole's experience is in a broad variety of psychiatric disorders in children including anxiety, depression, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, developmental delays, and psychotic disorders. Additional experience was gained teaching parent education groups and family therapy. Carole engaged in play therapy, assessment, and treatment direction and facilitated groups for children including a variety of topics from self esteem to anger management.
Carole opened her private practice at Riverside Psychiatric in 1995, dealing with individuals of all ages, including children and adolescents. While working closely with the physicians at Riverside, Carole gained experience, both personally and professionally in divorce adjustment for children, step-parenting, and blended family issues, as well as having special interests in anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, and personality disorders. In 2005, Carole became an employee of Riverside Psychiatric Group, S.C., where she continues to maintain a healthy balance between her family and a full practice.
Carole is happily married to Charles Groves, Psy.D., who works as a psychologist at Riverside Psychiatric Group, S.C. Together they enjoy a house full of teenagers and their friends.
