Dr.Groves has been working in the behavioral health field since 1975, starting as a nursing assistant and later working as a social worker prior to going to graduate school in clinical psychology. After graduation from Indiana State University, he worked at Sheboygan County Mental Health Center providing psychological services for the STRIVE Program, an alternative educational program for behaviorally disordered adolescents, and Brown County Mental Health Center where he provided therapy, and intellectual, personality, and neuropsychological testing and was the acting director of the Psychology Department.
After getting his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology, Dr. Groves entered into private practice in 1991 and located it at Riverside Psychiatric where he has remained throughout. Just recently, Dr. Groves accepted a position as an employee of Riverside Psychiatric Group, S.C. where he conducts individual, couples, and family psychotherapy and performs psychological testing, including intellectual, personality, attention deficit disorder, and learning disability, neuropsychological, forensic, and presurgical evaluations. Evaluations for the legal system include involuntary commitment, competency to stand trial, mental responsibility, mental status, personality assessment, and law enforcement pre-employment screening evaluations.
Dr. Groves and his wife, Carole, also a therapist, are very active raising their teenage children. The family enjoys outdoor sports, sailing, and kayaking.
Dr. Groves has extensive experience with cognitive behavioral approaches to depression, anxiety, stress, and anger management. His primary areas of interest also include behavioral problems in children and adolescence, parenting issues, family therapy, adult abuse survivors, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
